If you’re a contractor using an EBT to receive your UK income we strongly recommend that you consider your options immediately due to a recent court case won by HMRC against an EBT, and summarised by KPMG.
Because of this ruling we believe that use of an EBT is no longer an option for contractors. We do not now and have never offered an EBT for contractors – so existing Churchill Knight & Associates clients are not at any risk. We do not believe that this judgement affects our clients in any way.
If you were using an EBT Umbrella Company, then you should immediately consider your options. We offer a tailored accounting service for contractors, designed to minimise hassle and maximise your take home pay. If you’d like to tell us what your current circumstances are, we can give you a personalised assessment of your options and the likely impact on your take home pay within a few hours.
Our specialist accounting services for freelance contractors are designed to save you as much tax as legally possible. The services that we can supply you, subject to your requirements, will all meet the criteria below;

We don’t use an EBT and we’ve never offered an EBT (always has been too risky, in our view) – so you are at no risk from this judgement. We keep a close eye on HMRC cases and pending legislation, to make sure that you’re always in full compliance. Check out our blog about EBTs if you’d like to know more about them.
